How do I move, copy or clone a report in Cloud Reporting?

In Bold Reports® Cloud, you can move, copy, or clone a report from the Reports grid context menu on the Report Server. Each option places the report in another category.

Note: Starting with v6.1, the cloning reports feature is planned for deprecation. For more information, see this section.

How to move a report

You move a report to another category with the Move option in the Reports grid Actions menu.

  1. Click Actions in the Reports grid context menu, and then select Move. Move Report in context menu

  2. In the Move Report dialog, select the target category in Move to Category, and then click Move. Move Reports

How to copy a report

You copy a report to another category with the Copy option in the Reports grid Actions menu, and you can change its data source, dataset, and subreports.

  1. Click Actions in the Reports grid context menu, and then select Copy. Copy option in the reports grid Actions menu

  2. Enter the report name in Name, and select the category in Copy to Category.

  3. Select the Overwrite checkbox to overwrite the existing report. Copy report

  4. Click Advanced to change the data source, dataset, and subreport references of the copy.

  5. Change the data source and dataset of the report as needed. The copy is saved with your changes. Copy report dialog with data source and dataset changes

How to clone a report

Cloning created a reference to a report in another category, but cloning is planned for deprecation and the Clone option was removed from the Report Server.

  1. Click Actions in the Reports grid context menu, and then select Clone. Clone option in the reports grid Actions menu

  2. In the Clone Report dialog, select the destination in Clone to Category, and then click Clone. The clone is a reference, so a change to the report .rdl file affects the report in both categories. Clone Reports

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between copying and cloning a report?

A copy in Bold Reports® Cloud is a separate report in the target category. A clone is a reference to the same .rdl file, so a change to that file affects the report in both categories.

Can I change the data source or dataset when I copy a report?

Yes. In the Copy dialog, click the advanced button to change the data source, dataset, and subreport or drill through references before the copy is saved.

Can I still clone reports?

Cloning is planned for deprecation, and the Clone option was removed from the Report Server. Existing cloned reports remain available in the sites.
