Show page margins in Bold Reports® Web Report Designer
Page Margin in Bold Reports® Web Report Designer shows the margin areas clearly, so you can manage layout and report properties during report design.
What are margin rulers?
Margin rulers in Bold Reports® Web Report Designer highlight the report’s margin areas. Previously, report margins were visible only in Print Layout or Export View of Report Viewer. With this feature enabled, margins are distinctly displayed in Web Report Designer itself.
Margin rulers do not display labels and have a gray background. Standard rulers have a white background, so you can tell them apart.
How do I show or hide the page margin?
The Page Margin in Web Report Designer is hidden by default when you launch the designer. To display or hide it:

Open the View menu from the toolbar.

Click the Page Margin option to toggle its visibility.

How do report properties show in the margin area?
The margin area in Web Report Designer reflects report-level properties, such as:
- Background color
- Background images
- Borders and border styles
Clicking the margin or gray area selects the report itself, so you can:
- Modify report-level properties.
- Enable or customize visual styles for the report background.
The report’s margin settings set the width and height of the margin rulers. For example, if the left margin is set to 120 pixels, the left margin ruler is 120 pixels wide. If the top margin is set to 120 pixels, the top margin ruler is 120 pixels high. The following image shows the report properties reflected in the margin.
